Electrode pitch granulation and packing plant
2018 : JSC Zaporizhcoke (Ukraine).
Scope of works:
- Construction site preparation for a new plant
- Equipment installation
Short description of the process:
Electrode pitch granulation and packing plant supplied by Sandvik.
The process cycle is as follows: electrode coal tar pitch enters a filter from a header tank along the pipeline. The filtered pitch is then pumped over to a final filter for fine particles removal. After the final cleaning cycle, pitch is fed to a rotoform unit (drop forming device), where it enters a perforated rotating shell via a nozzle distribution bar, wherefrom it is sprayed in the form of droplets against a steel belt that is cooled down with process water from underneath. To ensure a proper drop formation, the steel belt surface is wetted with soapy emulsion. The cooled pitch pastilles are removed by a discharge knife and fed into a bucket elevator conveyor along which the end product is transported to a bin. Pitch is then packed into big bags from the bin using a packing device mounted on scales.
